A true classic
It was called ‘Slash Eight’ (Strichacht) in Germany, because its production started in January 1968 and lasted until December 1976. In the 70’s, the Mercedes-Benz W123 model was still produced, but taxi drivers in Germany were insisting upon their good old ‘standing headlights’ cars, which is a characteristic of the 115 model.
Although the 115 model was not produced in such a big number as other six- or eight-cylinder models, it was definitely the most successful model in Stuttgart.
The W114/W115 were the first post-war models that had a newly designed carriage. Among the novelties were the semi-closed back levers and the operation board with spherical joints.
