Feeling of 'Dallas'
The 450 SL model, introduced in the 70’s, also known as ‘Bobby’s car’, as it featured as Bobby Ewing’s car in the famous series Dallas, has two different designs: R107 and C107.
The most significant difference between them is that the letter C in C107 means coupé, i.e. it has two doors and a hardtop, whilst R107 is a cabriolet, with a convertible top. The ‘R’ variant is called an SL, and the ‘C’ an SLC. The wheel base of SLC is almost 40 cm shorter, and there are many features that can vary, such as open-top, hardtop and soft-top.
The model 107 came was introduced in 1971, and was referred to as ‘the new SL’. The series SL has conquered the costumers’ hearts; the 300 SL model, a.k.a. ‘Gullwing’ was a dream car for many. It was designed as a corpulent sports car, has always been the flagship of the brand.
Everyone predicted a great sports career to this car given its character, and they were right – it became a very popular racecar and was used for rallying, too.
